Privacy Policy

What we collect, and where it goes

Stored on your device

• Profile you enter: an optional display name and, if you add one, a profile photo chosen from your gallery.
• Practice data: sessions, routines, exercise logs, and progress.
• Recordings: audio you record is saved as a file on your device. We do not upload it. A recording leaves your device only if you tap Share and choose where to send it — at that point it is handled by the app you picked, not by us.

We do not ask for your date of birth, email address, phone number, or location.

Anonymous diagnostics — optional, off by default

If you turn on "Share analytics" (in onboarding or Settings → Privacy), the app sends anonymous usage and stability data to help us improve FluteGym, using two Google Firebase services:

• Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase): records which screens you view and anonymous in-app events such as "session completed," "metronome used," or "recording saved." These events include counts and durations — not the content of your recordings or notes. Analytics also processes standard technical data such as an app-instance identifier and coarse device/app information.
• Firebase Crashlytics: if the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report (stack trace and device state) so we can fix it.

This diagnostics sharing is disabled by default and only active in the released app once you opt in. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share analytics, and it never runs in development builds.

How we use information

• On-device data: to make the app work — track your practice, show progress, play back recordings, and send the local reminders you schedule.
• Diagnostics (if enabled): to understand which features are used and to find and fix crashes and bugs.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Sharing

We don't share your data with third parties, except:

• Google Firebase, which processes the anonymous diagnostics described above on our behalf, only if you opt in.
• Apps you choose: when you use the Share feature (a recording, a session image, or an app link), the receiving app and any service behind it handle that content under their own terms.

Notifications

FluteGym can show local practice reminders that you schedule on your device. These are generated on the device; there are no marketing messages.

Permissions

• Microphone: for the live tuner and to record your practice. Recording only happens when you start it.
• Notifications / alarms (Android): to deliver the daily practice reminders you set.
• Photos (gallery): only if you choose a profile photo.

Children's privacy

FluteGym is for flute players of all ages, including children. We designed it so that a child's data stays on their device:

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
• Practice data, recordings, names, and photos are stored on the device.
• Diagnostics are off by default. If you are a parent or guardian and want to be sure nothing leaves the device, simply leave "Share analytics" turned off (its default).

Your choices and controls

• Edit or clear your display name and photo in Settings.
• Turn diagnostics on or off in Settings → Privacy.
• Delete individual recordings in the app.
• Uninstalling the app deletes the local data stored on your device.

Data retention

On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Diagnostics data (if enabled) is retained by Google Firebase according to our project's retention settings.

Security

Diagnostics are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). On-device data is protected by your device's own security (lock screen, OS sandboxing).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make a material change, the app will ask you to review and accept the new version.
